TetherIA is an end-to-end robotics company based in Silicon Valley, focusing on developing the next-generation general-purpose dexterous hand platform. Founded by core members of the Tesla Optimus dexterous hand team and early members of Waymo’s AI foundation model initiative, the company has established comprehensive innovation capabilities spanning mechanical structure, actuation and control, data processing, and algorithms, leveraging its interdisciplinary team background and the competitive advantage of "hardware + AI".
Evan, Founder and CEO, previously served as the leader of the Tesla Optimus dexterous hand project. He led the team to complete the R&D of Tesla's second-generation dexterous hand and participated in the entire process from engineering design, mass production implementation to the early R&D and deployment of robot large models. Joe, Co-founder and CTO, was once a core founding member of Waymo's foundation model team and has published multiple papers in top conferences such as CVPR in the fields of AI and autonomous driving.
TetherIA has completed the preliminary R&D and hardware-software adaptation of its first product—a humanoid five-fingered dexterous hand. Adopting a hybrid solution primarily based on tendon-driven technology, it features a high degree of freedom, human-hand scale, lightweight design, modularity, and reliability. At the hardware level, this product is expected to become the lightest and most compact high-DOF dexterous hand on the market. At the software level, it provides AI Copilot software and a Sim-to-Real toolchain for application scenarios such as teleoperation, supporting the practical implementation of embodied intelligence algorithms. This product will primarily target the U.S. market.
The TetherIA team has also launched its first open-source and tendon-driven dexterous hand, Aero Hand Open, to accelerate the training of manipulation algorithms in the robotics community. As a low-cost, highly reliable, and fully open-source dexterous hand, Aero Hand is expected to become the highest-performing open-source dexterous hand in the industry.
